About This Work

This is a small, informal Mediterranean seascape painting — likely acrylic — with loose, impressionistic brushwork. In the foreground a cluster of pink-flowering branches frames the left side, their leaves and blooms bending toward a whitewashed terrace. The terrace’s rounded walls, a potted bouquet, a low stairway and a green door form a cozy courtyard that leads the eye out past a slatted wooden gate to the blue sea beyond. Midground elements include a pale domed building and a hint of orange architectural detail, which sit between the courtyard and the distant headland across the water. Color and light do a lot of the work: warm sunlit whites and ochres on the stone contrast with cool blues and purples in the shadows and the water, giving a relaxed, late-afternoon feel. Compositionally the painting moves you from intimate, sheltered space to open horizon — a gentle transition from private calm to expansive view, suggesting quiet contemplation, a small escape, or the simple pleasure of a seaside moment.
